Perlecan

Source

Human Perlecan Protein, His Tag (PEN-H5244) is expressed from human 293 cells (HEK293). It contains AA Val 3295 - Ile 3394 (Accession # P98160).

Predicted N-terminus: His

Molecular Characterization

This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the N-terminus.

The protein has a calculated MW of 12.7 kDa. The protein migrates as 13-14 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

Endotoxin

Less than 0.01 EU per μg by the LAL method / rFC method.

Purity

>90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Formulation

Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4 with trehalose as protectant.

Background

Perlecan (HSPG2) is an exceptionally large (4391 amino acids, 468 kDa) heparan sulfate proteoglycan encoded by the HSPG2 gene. Characterized by its string of pearls appearance and five distinct domains (I-V), Perlecan is a ubiquitous and essential component of all native basement membranes and the extracellular matrix (ECM). It is synthesized by various cell types, including vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells, and plays a critical role in binding and cross-linking numerous ECM components and cell-surface molecules, thereby contributing to tissue architecture and mediating cell-matrix interactions.
